CC (Crazy Commitment)

Commitment!  What a word.  It results in much of what is good in our lives.  When we commit to something we get better at it.  It becomes a part of who we are or becomes what we are!  I commit to my better health, saving for the future, my marriage to my wife, to being a father that my kids need and love!  I commit to many terms and agreements in my electronic world and commit to making payments on my house.  I commit to my schoolwork to become a wiser person.  Small and large commitments surround you and me.

We have crazy commitment levels in our lives.  But without commitment we would leave that which makes us better as soon as our feelings run out of gas!  Some commitments are easier than others, but they all require one thing.  Sacrifice!  Without letting go of something, you can’t fully commit to that which is coming.  What is it that you are holding on to right now that is keeping you from your future?  Often it’s a battle between danger and security.

Often the very thing that helps us stay committed to past responsibilities can hold us back from future possibilities.  For example, you may spend years building up financial security only to find that when the time comes to commit to a way that does not provide the same security you lock up for fear the security won’t be there.

But in order to fulfill your destiny you must be willing to leave your current security and that takes some ridiculous commitment!  A risk of such security should come from God and be in alignment with the Bible (His direction for commitment).  It often comes in the form of a single word or statement that blows us out of our comfort zones.  It challenges our coziness and slaps our character into a “front and center” stance!

Sound ridiculous?  Well I would say that ridiculous obedience in the form of ridiculous commitment results in ridiculous living!   I would have it no other way!

For Further discussion:
-Read 1 Kings 19-19-24
-What examples of ridiculous commitment have you seen in your life?
-What is your level of trust in God?  What is keeping you from fully trusting Him?
-How do you know when God is leading you?
