OverLoad

Ever been around people that just don’t get it? You know what I mean; they just don’t get what life is all about. Somewhere along the line they never got the message that life is not about them. Mothers are the best model of this; they give their bodies over to another human for 9 months and that is just the start. They give all they can and then often give what little is left over, sacrificing time, energy, comfort and personal relief for the sake of their kids and family. There is nothing better than seeing a mom being a true mom, and nothing more tragic than those stories in which a mom loses their designed way and turns destructive.

What causes a mom who bore flesh and blood for such a long time and gave so much of herself to destroy that which was created in her? What causes people to blow up? What causes you to overturn your day in anger? Well it’s because we ourselves don’t realize how much of a load we carry.

We are all at risk for carrying too much, but high risk people are the responsible people. They work so hard and focus so much, never knowing that day by day they are slipping away. They let their hearts become weighted; their personal joys to be placed on hold and even won’t physically take care of themselves. We are human and we must take care of ourselves. The best place to start is in a small word. It’s been around a long time but it’s mostly ignored today. It’s the word “NO”. Pull it out and dust it off, use it this week and let yourself be refreshed.

Saying “NO” allows you to say “YES” and actually follow through on your “YES”. It also guards your life.

“Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.” (Proverbs 4:23)

Remember if you can’t get up you can’t lift anybody else up! Take time for yourself today—especially you awesome mom’s out there.
