Rough yesterday, pessimistic future...there's hope!

Well the secret is out, yes that I am a lover of Christmas carols, specifically “O Holy Night.”  I think most if not all of us have a favorite carol we sing this time of year.  Even if we don’t want to admit it and just mumble that tune under our breath.  So what is your favorite Christmas carol?

I would guess what makes it your favorite is that there is something special about the song that touches you deeply.  Just like any good tune they mix the human desperation with human hope of a better tomorrow.  Christmas affords us today a better tomorrow that lies in a past moment that changed everything for every person on the planet.

Go read Luke chapter 2:1-21 and then come back…..oh you sure were fast but I trust you read it.  This familiar story describes the birth of Christ, the Son of God, the savior of the world.  Our God that has come from heaven to earth in a moment that is almost indescribable.  It connects with a multitude of emotions and thoughts.  It inspires and encourages us that something better lies on the wings of a new day.

I think its why no matter how rough yesterday was we awake often with a renewed sense of possibility each morning.  Even for the most pessimistic there is a glimmer of hope that embers deep within their soul.  This hope does not originate in the human experience but in the love that God poured out on the people of earth through His Son Jesus!

Regardless of our personal belief in Jesus, He still stands at the source of hope!  And for those that seek Him they discover that Christ is what they exactly need.  That He provides in ways like nothing else can.

Our tired and weariness melts away in His presence.  Our fears turn to hope when we discover Jesus Christ.  The dawning of a new eternal day awaits you this Christmas.  Will you put your hope in Jesus?
